Trail Wave

It is that time of year again-put those skis away and pull out your kayak! Trail wave is here. Every year at this time the Columbia River is intentionally lowered in the name of fish studies. What this means for us paddlers is a perfectly formed feature large enough for a 4 paddler game of king of the wave.

Trail wave is located on the Columbia River across from the Waneta Mall at an area known as Rock Island. The 3 foot wave breaks about 5 feet away from the shore and is serviced by a giant eddy that cycles you to the top automatically. In recent years river surfers have also enjoyed this wave, it is easy to get onto and can be surfed as long as your legs can bare it. On the other side of the wave trail is Hero Hole. If you love huckin ends until you are dizzy this spot is sure to please.

Hope to see you out there! Check in tomorrow for a report on our session!

See you on the water,
